Thermarestor® were contacted by the Fire Safety Officer at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, as they had an issue, raised during a routine Fire Risk Assessment inspection, with vending machines sited in Escape Corridors and Lobbies in most buildings within the Derriford Hospital estate.

Thermarestor® worked with Fire Officer and his team, the vending machine operators, to identify how we could help.

 

We developed a configuration that protects the electrical connections within the machine, which in turn electrically isolates the vending machine in the case of a sensor activation. 

​

This approach allows machines that were previously deemed to be a fire risk, (without Thermarestor®) to be located anywhere in the hospital.

​

This upgrade to the machines was carried out in a live hospital.

 

Once completed the hospital extended their installation to another food and drink zone in the hospitals main entrance
